Early Inning Action
What a game for the Tampa Bay Rays fans to rejoice over! The Rays came out strong early in the game during the top of the 2nd inning. Junior Caminero reached base next to Everson Pereira, who hit a double, putting two men in scoring position. Though Josh Lowe and Christopher Morel couldn't capitalize, Nick Fortes sure did with his clutch single to center, bringing home both baserunners. Cheers were heard all around as the Rays took a 2-0 lead.
Home Runs and Defense
The excitement continued into the 4th as Christopher Morel delighted fans with a solo homer to left center, stretching the lead to 4-0. The A’s managed to gain a point from a homer by Shea Langeliers at the bottom of the 5th, but our defense and pitching stood strong holding them back further.
Closing It Out in Style
The A’s did not go quietly in the 7th inning, though, closing the gap with a three-run homer by Tyler Soderstrom. However, our boy Nick Fortes answered back! He stole second, eventually scoring on Brandon Lowe's sacrifice fly in the 8th, bringing the score to 7-4.In the end, Pete Fairbanks came up strong from the bullpen to save the game, delivering high-stakes pitching in the 9th inning, ensuring no late surprises from Oakland.
