Tough Start for the Mariners in the First
The game started with a hiccup as the Blue Jays wasted no time getting onto the scoreboard. Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. both walked, setting the stage for Addison Barger, who doubled to bring them home. Despite our defense managing to cut off any further advances, we found ourselves trailing 0-2 early.Bold Attempts by the Mariners
Our bats had a slow start with J.P. Crawford, Jorge Polanco, and Julio Rodríguez all being retired in the first inning without advancing a runner. But come the third inning, glimmers of hope shone through as Ben Williamson singled, followed by Polanco bringing him home to make it 1-5. Our boys were not willing to give up without a fight!
A Fighting Spirit in the Middle Innings
The Mariners rallied in the bottom of the 6th. Julio Rodríguez and Cal Raleigh got on base, then Randy Arozarena knocked one in, and Leody Taveras delivered a crucial double! Bringing the score to 3-5, the energy at T-Mobile Park was electrifying! The 7th inning looked promising as well when Rodríguez and Raleigh found themselves with an opportunity to close the gap, but unfortunately, runs slipped away as the Blue Jays pitching tightened up.Falling Just Short at the Finish Line
As the game wound down, each side displayed formidable pitching. The Blue Jays managed to add to their lead with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 9th, taking it to 3-6. In the Mariners' final push in the 9th, Crawford struck out on a wild pitch and bravely raced to first, but unfortunately, our late surge ended with Julio Rodríguez's ground out. For us Mariners fans, it was a tough 6-3 loss, but the fight our team showed ensures we'll be ready for the next battle on the diamond!
