Tough Loss for the Cards
Ah, what a heartbreaker!

First Inning Hopes and a Stroke of Luck
We kicked things off with Masyn Winn taking his usual spot at shortstop and admirably trying to set the tone. The first inning was quiet on both ends, but Donovan managed to snag a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Nolan Arenado walked. Despite that build-up, Nolan Gorman ended the inning with a fly out to center.
Capitalizing on Opportunities
Fast forward to the third inning, after a tense start with no scores, our boys finally edged ahead thanks to a series of fortunate errors and determination. Masyn Winn showed his speed on the base paths stealing second, and precision by Brendan Donovan secured Winn's run on an error, putting us up 1-0.

Late Inning Drama
We held the lead until the fifth when the Nationals tied it with a sneaky infield single and subsequent running exploits. Both teams went neck-and-neck, keeping the tally at 1-1 until the fateful ninth inning. A nail-biting scenario played out with the Nationals seizing their chance all thanks to some ill-timed errors, allowing them to get the decisive run.

In the bottom half, Ian Petrutz tried to ignite a last-minute rally with a single, but our efforts were stifled. A resilient bout by Noah Mendlinger and efforts from Brayden Jobert unfortunately weren't enough to tilt the scores. Conclusively, we fell 2-1.
While today's game didn't go our way, it's the season's ups and downs that keep our love for the Cards alive! Onwards and upwards, Cardinals Nation!
